Procurement Officer - Wigan

The Procurement Officer is an integral part of the procurement team who will oversee and enable the full procurement lifecycle in line with Company policies and industry compliance standards.
Main responsibilities:
* Engage in supplier identification and qualification: evaluate credentials, quality standards, delivery performance, and sustainability credentials
* Negotiate pricing, terms, quality grades, lead times, and contract performance metrics; manage and update supplier databases
* Assist in drafting, reviewing, and monitoring contract adherence and SLAs; support tender processes including preparation, submission, and bid evaluation
* Ensure full compliance with UK Timber Regulation (UKTR), including due diligence evidencing legal harvest, species, and documented origin
* Work with environmental and regulatory teams to secure CITES permits where relevant and manage plant health obligations.
* Promote certified supply chains, monitoring participation in FSC, PEFC, or equivalent systems to meet sustainability goals.
* Monitor international timber markets (e.g., Baltic, Scandinavian, global trading hubs), tracking price trends, supply disruptions, and species availability.
* Produce detailed procurement and compliance reports for senior management, highlighting cost savings, supplier performance, sustainability metrics, and risk exposure.
* support internal audits and documentation for UKTR compliance, Chain-of-Custody reporting, and tender review processes.
* Contribute and support annual stock count.
* Control of inventory on 3rd party sites.

* Integrity of stock value, condition and identification
* Reduction of SMOD.
* Maintain COC integrity
* Lead / assist internal audits
* The Management of all outbound / internal movement of goods
Essential

Desirable
* Experience of ERP / MRP systems (Sage / Babbage etc)
* Experience of electronic inventory control (barcoding / RFID systems)
* CIPS 4 or higher qualification or working towards
* Experience with the timber procurement, stock control environment
