As Regional Manager for Haldane Fisher England, you'll have full P&L responsibility for multiple branches across the region, driving sales growth, operational excellence, and team development in a fast-paced, dynamic merchanting environment.
This isn't just about managing the day-to-day. You'll be a strategic leader, working hand-in-hand with our Divisional Managing Director to grow revenue, improve margins, optimize operations, and build high-performing teams across our timber, building materials, plumbing & heating, and bathroom departments.

What you'll be doing
Drive revenue and margin growth
- Lead our timber, building materials, plumbing & heating, and bathroom teams to smash sales targets and deliver exceptional customer service
- Work closely with internal sales teams to maximize opportunities across trade, commercial, and DIY customers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers—in branch and on-site
Optimize operations
- Oversee continuous improvement across production, timber treatment, transport, quality, and supply chain
- Manage inter-branch distribution and our delivery fleet to ensure efficiency and service excellence
- Lead manufacturing and treatment operations to achieve output targets
Develop winning teams
- Coach, mentor, and develop branch management teams to exceed their potential
- Build a multi-skilled, high-performing workforce through targeted training and development
- Create a productive, values-driven culture where people thrive
Manage the business
- Full P&L accountability for all sites—own the numbers and drive profitability
- Control overhead costs, manage budgets, and maximize operational efficiency
- Monitor stock levels, valuations, and quality standards across the region
Ensure excellence
- Maintain industry-leading health, safety, and environmental standards
- Drive customer service excellence and resolve complaints swiftly and professionally
- Keep branches tidy, well-presented, and operating at peak performance
What we're looking for
The essentials
✓ Proven track record in senior operations or regional management within merchanting, timber, building materials, or related sectors
✓ Strong commercial acumen with experience driving sales, margin improvement, and P&L management across multi-site operations
✓ Deep knowledge of builders' merchants, timber operations, and merchanting supply chains
✓ Experience managing branches, timber treatment facilities, warehousing, and logistics operations
✓ Exceptional leadership skills—you know how to inspire, develop, and get the best from your teams
✓ Strategic thinker with hands-on execution skills—you can see the big picture and make it happen
✓ Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to performance improvement
✓ Strong understanding of health, safety, and quality management in operational environments
✓ Experience with ERP systems (K8 knowledge is a big plus)
✓ Full UK driving licence and happy to travel extensively across the region
