Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Group Head of Health, Safety & Environment to be based at our Head Office in Newry. We are looking for a strategic leader to drive our health, safety, and sustainability agenda across England, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland.
Key Responsibilities of the Group Head of Health, Safety & Environment will include:
- Lead and implement health & safety strategy across all branches and operational regions.
- Conduct audits and risk assessments to ensure safe working practices and legal compliance.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Deliver health & safety training programs and promote a safety-first culture.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, including carbon reduction and waste minimisation.
- Report to senior leadership on performance metrics and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Extensive experience (7+ years) in health and safety leadership roles, preferably in a multi-site, multi-country setting.
- Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, ISO 45001).
- Proven ability to implement and manage health and safety systems across complex operational environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of safety legislation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within the builders merchanting or construction materials sector is highly desirable.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
